Our workshop introduced students into the exciting field of programming via Scratch, a block-based language that can be used to create interactive stories, games, and animations without complicated syntax. All the enthusiastic and avid students our instructor team worked with truly made the Scratch Programming workshop a great success. One Bridge instructors guided students through programming with several demos covering key aspects including Setup, Motion, Events + Control, and Sound. Students learned to customize their programs and write scripts to move, use conditional statements, play sounds, and more! After learning these concepts, students were able to solve a hands-on Scratch challenge – Scratch-a-thon! – with a group of fellow classmates: code a giraffe sprite to move according to specific keyboard commands. We are extremely proud of all our students who were able to apply their new skills and tackle the challenge!

“I loved today’s Programming with Scratch day a lot! The Scratch-a-thon was really exciting.”
