One Bridge hosted a 10-week research program for elementary school students interested in conducting a hands-on STEM research project in a collaborative environment. The Spring 2023 program ran from February through May 2023. Students learned the fundamentals of scientific research and the scientific method through One Bridge’s signature curriculum and then utilized their knowledge to complete one of two research projects: Fast Plants and Oobleck Exploration. One Bridge hosted students from school districts in Merced, Pleasanton, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino. All students received free experimentation kits.

To enrich students’ understanding of a specialized STEM field, One Bridge hosted a guest speaker during the Spring 2023 program. Students heard from Ding Ma, a software engineer and recent graduate of McGill University and had many questions! To view the full guest speaker event, click here.

Guest speaker Ding Ma, a software engineer at Nvidia, shares his journey with technology and finding his passion for software engineering.

Students worked hard on their research projects, and the program culminated in a research presentation summit. Students were able to showcase their scientific research and their data analysis, gaining important public speaking experience!

Group 1’s research presentation, titled “Fast Plants.” Students analyzed the effect of various liquids on seed germination.
Group 2’s research presentation. Students studied the physical and chemical properties of Oobleck, a slime-like mixture of water and cornstarch.
